QPR boss Harry Redknapp has pleaded with Ryan Nelsen to stay for two more Premier League games.
The Kiwi defender is set to take over at FC Toronto in the MLS as player-coach, with the Rangers manager under the impression he was going on March 1.
However, Nelsen (pic) has been in Canada all week and now wants to leave by next Friday.
Harry is hoping he can get his unsung hero to give him two last performances against Manchester City on Tuesday and Norwich next Saturday.
“I need to speak to Ryan,” said Redknapp. “I need him for the Norwich game, but he’s been away all week out in Canada.
“He probably thinks the opportunity won’t come along again if he doesn’t go. And it’s all changed, but I’m hoping I can put it back again a few days.”
But there will be no exit for another central defender Anton Ferdinand, as exclusively revealed by Chronicle sport, nor Robert Green or Julio Cesar – linked with a move to Real Madrid this week.
“Sell the keeper and you sell the jersey,” said the Rs manager. “We need to keep them both and we can’t let any other players go until we bring some others in.”
