QPR boss hails Nelsen after Chelsea shut-out

MARK Hughes singled out Ryan Nelsen for special praise after QPR's derby draw with Chelsea on Saturday.

The veteran defender frustrated Blues striker Fernando Torres, which eventually led to the Spanish star storming down the tunnel after being substituted in the 81st minute.

And boss Hughes hailed the 35-year-old's display in the stalemate at Loftus Road.

He said: “We had a lot of good performances, but sometimes Ryan doesn't get the credit he deserves.

“He was great and you always know what you're going to get from him, a consistent level of performance.

“To come up against a striker of world renowned and really dominated. The week that he's had is a credit to him.

“He (Torres) was frustrated because he found it very difficult to have an impact on the game and that's a credit to Ryan.

“The only shame is he's 35 and not 25!”
