QPR midfielder vows to fight for starting spot ahead of Chelsea derby clash

JAMIE Mackie has warned all and sundry they right him off at their peril.

The midfielder was a lowly player with relegated Plymouth when he joined Hoops two seasons ago, and although he suffered a devastating double leg-break in January 2011, returned to stamp his authority in a star-studded QPR.

Now, the 26-year-old Scotland international reckons he is hell-bent on keeping more expensive new signings out of the team ahead of Saturday's west London derby with Chelsea.

He said: “The key is adapting. If you embrace that it’s going to change – and you want to be part of it you can be successful here.

“Even though people doubt or you might not play because we’re getting big signings, I really believe I my ability and what I can bring to the team.”
