MARTIN Jol concedes Fulham cannot consider themselves above the relegation dogfight after the Whites suffered their first defeat of the new year.
A 2-0 defeat to the champions leaves them only six points above the drop zone and seemingly in need of the 'special moments' which eluded his side at the Etihad Stadium.
"We are already sucked into a relegation battle. To have gained points here today would have been a bonus, but we couldn't.
"There are eight of nine of us down there in the relegation battle, and we need four or five wins."
Jol added: "To concede in the second minute is a horrific scenario. At 1-0 down it could have been a horrible day.
"After they scored, we did better, but the final ball wasn't great. If you want something here at Man City you need a bit of luck and quality, but we couldn't find that special moment. That was disappointing.
"We could have hurt them because they didn't score their second until the 70th minute and this wasn't Man City at their best. But David Silva was the best player on the pitch and he was fantastic, a quality player."
