Swansea City v Chelsea - Capital One Cup SF 2nd leg
RAFA BENITEZ says Chelsea's task will be less complicated than it will be for Swansea City in tomorrow nights Capital One Cup semi-final.
The Blues start the second leg 2-0 down after a dreadful night at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago, in which two glaring errors by Branislav Ivanovic proved costly.
Chelsea's interim boss agrees the hosts will be favourites to advance to the final at Wembley, but is confident his side can reproduce the same kind of results achieved in other away games of late - the four and five goal bonanzas at Leeds, Southampton and Stoke.
“For us, I think it is easier than for [Swansea boss] Michael Laudrup,” Benitez said ahead of what will be the start of a run of four away games in a row.
“We have to score, we have to win. For them it depends. Maybe they will think 'OK, we're 2-0 up, we'll have to wait and play counter-attack.'
“Maybe they will play the way they used to play – passing the ball and attacking – but I think they will wait for us and they will wait deep.”
Benitez added: “Obviously it's not easy, but we did it before in other stadiums and we have confidence that we can do it.
“We will play against a good team, but if you remember the first leg, there were a lot of chances and we made two mistakes. Now, we have to manage the situation, but our games away are quite good, so we are confident.
“We know that they will try to score a goal to out more pressure on us, but for us, it's the same, we have to go there and try to win. Obviously not 1-0, because we have to do a little bit better, but we can do it because we have enough quality in the squad.”
Benitez has made it clear that John Terry is again unlikely to start, as he has not yet built up enough match fitness. He remained an unused sub against Arsenal on Sunday.
“John Terry was training and he was doing well, but as I said before, he will need match fitness, “ said the Spaniard. “He's training well and yesterday we had a hard training session.
"He's an option, but he knows that he will need time. We have a plan with him and we are following the plan.”
