CHELSEA are confident of striking a deal with Ashley Cole in their ongoing contract negotiations with the England left-back.
The 31-year-old has made more than 250 appearances for the Blues since his switch from Arsenal in 2006, but is in the final 12 months of his deal at Stamford Bridge.
Cole confirmed last month that talks were underway to extend his stay in SW6 but rubbished reports that he was holding out for a £200k-a-week pay packet.
However, the Blues will be keen to reach an agreement before January, when the defender is able to sign a pre-contract with another club.
Cole has been linked with Spanish champions Real Madrid in the past, while a number of other clubs will be keeping a close eye on his situation in case negotiations break down.
