Obama arrives for talks in Russia

President Barack Obama has touched down in Moscow for a full-scale two-day summit, the first of its kind since the early part of the George W Bush presidency.

Obama, his wife Michelle, and their two daughters shook hands with Russian officials at the airport.

The president's first event in Russia is a wreath-laying ceremony at the Russian Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Moscow portion of Obama's nearly week-long trip gives his diplomatic skills a stern test, with Russia home to a wary public, a two-headed leadership and lingering hard feelings.

Still, Obama is sure to emerge with tangible signs of progress - including another step toward the world's two largest nuclear powers reducing their arsenals.
