Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen
A SOUTHALL hospice is “delighted” to be chosen as the recipient for donations following the death of Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen.
Elisabeth, who played the Time Lord's companion Sarah Jane Smith in the 1970s and 1980s - and recently enjoyed her own spin-off series on the BBC, died on April 19 this year after a battle with cancer. She was 65.
Her family were moved by fans tributes to such an extent that they chose Meadow House Hospice in Uxbridge Road for people to send donations in her memory.
Jacqueline Grove, clinical services manager at the hospice said: “We are delighted that the family felt that people could make donations to us. I see that as a compliment to us and the service that we provide here.”
Elisabeth, born in Liverpool, played Doctor Who's companion across several seasons of the program from 1973 and was a favourite among fans of the series. She came back to the show in 2006 opposite 10th doctor David Tenant and was given her own spin-off show with BBC's The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Part of Doctor Who was shot in Southall when the series returned in 2005 after a lengthy hiatus.
