Council unveils poster to promote safe sex

The Lets Talk About It campaign, run by Ealing Council, aims to promote safe sex

A NEW poster campaign has been launched encouraging young people to talk more openly about sex, relationships and contraception.

The ‘Let’s Talk About It’ campaign, run by Ealing Council, will run during the first two weeks of February.

The initiative aims to reduce teenage pregnancies and change attitudes towards relationships and safer sex.

Research shows that young people are particularly susceptible to taking risks at two times in the year - Valentines Day and around Christmas. And there are spikes in annual teenage pregnancy rates that can be traced back to these times of the year.

Data published in November last year shows that the number of teenage pregnancies in the borough has dropped to its lowest levels since 1998, with a 21 per cent drop in the rate of conceptions.
