THE NAZ Project, based in Hammersmith, is unfortunately on the brink of termination, because it is being deprived of essential funding.
Naz is a gay charity that works for those in ethnic minorities. It has to deal with all sorts of prejudice - being both black and gay is not an easy option.
Gay charities across London are sinking into extinction, on the whole because councils in the capital are withdrawing much needed money.
Hammersmith and Fulham Council would be wrong to ignore the plight of Naz. Closing down Naz would indicate that combating both HIV and homophobia is not a major priority.
Naz seems a bulwark against ignorance, and to remove Naz is one more way to allow bigotry to flood across the borough, and to make gay people feel unwanted.
