I AM sorry that the extension of bus route 427 in Acton (Gazette, January 21) did not meet with the approval of your correspondent KF Avery (Letters, February 4).
There was a slight error in the original report which should have said that the first stop in Uxbridge Road was at Acton Tram Depot, and that missed out the High Street altogether, not that it was the first stop on the route.
I cannot comment on the number of passengers boarding at Steyne Road in the morning, but for the remainder of the day they were very few indeed and the buses often did not carry a substantial number of passengers until they reached Ealing Broadway.
This change has not only given a better westbound service from the stops at McDonald's and just prior to Steyne Road, but made better use of the available bus capacity between those stops and Ealing Broadway.
Ealing Passenger Transport Users'
Group (EPTUG) is not a group of faceless borough public transport watchdogs, and if Mr Avery wishes to be part of the process, he is welcome to apply for membership and to attend our public meetings.
