No time for knee-jerks

EARLIER this week, protesters gathered outside Ealing Town Hall to lobby against a proposed power station for Southall.

Critics of the scheme say the site, which would use biofuels to create electricity, would pollute the area and possibly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.

It is vital that a close eye is kept on any initiative in the borough which would damage the environment, but it is equally important to keep an open mind. Knee-jerk reactions from both sides are counter-productive. It is now up to Ealing Council's planning committee to make the best decision for the people of the borough.
