Eric and Elsie
As it’s nearing Valentine’s Day, let’s talk about a couple who have been together 10 years - Eric and Elsie.
Like any couple who have been together that long, they have developed endearing little habits in their partnership. If there are two dog beds in a room, Elsie, the smaller dog, takes the larger bed leaving Eric to squeeze into the smaller bed. Elsie has perfected a complicated manoeuvre whereby she pushes herself up against Eric’s front legs, possibly, it seems in order to try and make sure her mouth is as near to Eric’s as possible if there are any titbits on offer.
When I met them, Elsie was very busy, racing around to see what was going on whereas Eric stood patiently watching over her. Elsie is a border terrier cross whereas Eric is a whippet cross. They have been together since they were puppies but, due to their owner going into a carehome, they are now looking for a new home – together, of course.
It’s important to note that this devoted couple are suitable to be homed by first time dog owners. If you are able to offer Eric and Elsie a loving home, contact Dogs Trust on 01895 453930 or see more details at www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming. Alternatively go and see them at Dogs Trust, Harvil Road, Harefield UB9 6JW.
Now, an advance notice about this year’s Ealing Animal Welfare Bazaar which is taking place on Saturday March 2. Thirty animal welfare charities / groups are taking part in this popular event which is now in its 35th year. Charities such as Dogs Trust and Ealing Cats Protection will be raising funds for local animals whereas charities such as The Brooke Hospital for Animals and Animals Asia will be raising funds for the welfare of animals abroad.
No doubt, many of the stalls will be like an Aladdin’s Cave of goodies. The Bazaar really is a place where you can get lots of bargains knowing the money is going to very good causes.
