Donald, a six year old Mastiff crossbreed
I’ve just spent this afternoon, unexpectedly, sorting out two cats who had been left on their own in a flat since their owner was taken into hospital a few days ago.
It highlights the importance of making sure we make arrangements for our animals in case we are taken ill or have an accident. It’s a good idea to carry with us at all times, an information card giving details of any pets we are responsible for, so that, if we are taken ill, they can immediately be taken care of. The card should also give details of who to contact about them.
The Cinnamon Trust, which focuses on elderly and terminally ill people and their pets, is one organisation which specifically provides emergency cards that can be placed in prominent positions around the house so that in the event of illness, the Trust can be contacted to make arrangements for the pets. These cards are available as part of their free Pet Profiling Scheme. More details are available from The Cinnamon Trust on 01736 757900.
Now, let’s talk about Donald. I’ve known about Donald a while. I first saw his details on The Mayhew’s website and couldn’t forget his magnificent face. Donald is a six year old Mastiff crossbreed. Mastiffs are known for their grandeur and good nature and Donald is no exception. He is friendly, affectionate and responsive to commands. He plays with his toys if he has to but he would much rather spend his time having his ears and tummy rubbed.
Providing they are the right match, Donald could share his home with another dog. If you’re able to give Donald a loving home contact The Mayhew Animal Home on 020 8969 0178 or see more details, including videos at http://themayhew.org.
Finally, if you like jazz, The Mayhew and the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham, Councillor Belinda Donovan are inviting us to a Pre-Valentine’s Jazz Evening on February 13 at 7.30pm. The evening will include food and great prizes. Tickets are £15 from the Mayor’s office on 020 8753 2013 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The venue is Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street, London W6 9JU.
