It was with great amusement that I read the letter from Cllr Benjamin Dennehy that you published last week about the fact that Ealing Council employees are receiving free iPads on the taxpayer.
Cllr Dennehy will naturally recall the Conservative Group debate he attended about iPads for officers: the decision was felt by everybody present to be an unconscionably bad use of taxpayers’ money at a time of council belt-tightening.
It is certainly a decision that a Conservative administration in Ealing would not have taken; and the minutes of the meeting prove it.
The fact that no business case has been issued by the Labour administration only reinforces our view that this is nothing more than a Labour administration resorting to type – one dominated by council officers.
In this particular broadcast by Cllr Dennehy – about iPads for officers – the sound of axes grinding in the background is so loud as to be deafening.
